Social Dances
Social Dances are a time to try out the steps and dances you’ve been practicing in class, learn new ones, socialize with friends, and just have a great time! Social dances are always open to the public and everyone is welcome. In the spring we have a Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee); a Scottish party. At the Ceilidh you can enjoy dancing, live music, entertainment, refreshments and friends.
What to Wear: Wear comfortable clothing to dance in. Women often prefer to wear a loose, flowing skirt, however, that is not required. Wear comfortable, soft-soled, flexible shoes to dance in.
Dance Programs with dance steps/instructions are available via the “Program” link on the Calendar, and are posted at least one week in advance of the dance. Be sure to print out the program and bring it with you to the dance!
Area Events
There are many Scottish and dance related events in the area with large organizations in Vancouver, British Columbia (RSCDSVancouver.org) and Seattle, Washington (https://rscds-seattle.org/). Scottish Country dancing is one of many arts available at the Celtic Arts Foundation (celticarts.org) in Mt. Vernon, Washington.
